Fannish Babble

1. In perhaps the ultimate testament to my geekiness, yesterday I bought "Robot Chicken: Star Wars" at Circuit City. Then I hit up Toys 'R Us and found human Ben Tennyson. He has the distinction of being the first "Alien Force" action figure I have purchased. He looks really weird next to my ten-year-old Bens since they are all the same height. Now, I just need a Kevin to get rid of his virginity.

2. Everyone needs to see "Wall-E". I think having seeing "Wall-E" should be a requirement to hold public office. My desperate dream is for this movie to change the world. I cried over the robot love story, but not as much as I cried for Earth.

3. "Hellboy 2: The Golden Army" is visually gorgeous, entertaining, and with solid characters- even if I predicted how it would end far in advance. By the way, does anyone know where I can find the song that Abe and Hellboy were singing along to, "Can't Smile Without You"? It's not on the movie soundtrack- I know because I went straight to the mall after the theater hoping to buy the CD specifically for that song! (Not that I don't love Danny Elfman's work... but I want that song!)

4. Last week, I dreamed that I was Batman. Not just any Batman, but Christian Bale Batman. The Joker had an evil plot involving a hijacking of a production of "Phantom of the Opera". Naturally, I- being the goddamn Batman- attempted to thwart him. But, alas, my efforts went awry and the police were after me! To evade them, I tried cross-dressing. And that is how I, as Christian Bale Batman, ended up in a hot pink dress with a diamond rhinestone collar. The police were not fooled, probably because of my well-chiseled and stubble-bristled jaw, so I had to take them out with baterangs. It was the best dream EVER.

5. Episodes of "Ben 10: Alien Force" like "The Gauntlet" and "Paradox" make me happy to watch the series. And episodes like "Be-Knighted" make me go... excuse my language... "What the fuckedy fuck fuck?" Did the writers watch the original series? Because if they did, then "Be-Knighted" makes absolutely no sense. Maybe they missed Grandpa Max's little spiel about what the Forever Knights are all about in "A Small Problem", but explain how "Be-Knighted" is supposed to mesh with what we know of the Forever Knights and their motives thanks to "The Unnaturals" or "Ben 10 vs. the Negative 10". No sense, man. No sense. Sometimes, I hate this show because when you ask this show, "Is it too much to ask for a little continuity?" the show answers, "Yes, yes it is."

6. It was a full hour after the episode "Plumbers' Helpers" aired that I realized the joke behind the names. Manny the Tetramand? Helen the Kineceleran? Ahaha, it's so funny I forgot to laugh. I'd like to point out that even if XI took "Alien Force" as canon (and it does not), Helen's existence would not joss my explanation for how Ben gets pregnant (Kinecelerans are hermaphrodites in my fic), because she's not actually a Kineceleran, but a human-Kineceleran hybrid. (Also, for all we know, Helen could be a hermaphrodite.) So there. Okay, the episode was decent, but it got really old really quickly listening to Helen and Manny have the same argument over and over, especially as Helen didn't really do a damn thing about her doubts other than bitch until the very end of the episode. You know what's also getting old? Gwen and Kevin's stagnating relationship. We know you like each other. You know you like each other. The events of "All that Glitters" and "Max Out" both give good reasons for delaying acting on it... but it's been a few episodes and now it's just getting annoying. I feel like that by the time these two figure it out, Ben will have already thoroughly explored his sexual identity and shacked up with a male model named Kyle. (Mmm... that's a nice thought.) Also, did Julie fall down a black hole or are the writers only going to tote her out when they feel obligated to do something semi-romantic with Ben? If you really want me to buy that relationship, I need to see more of her. Otherwise, the only option you leave me with for that boy is Kevin. (Or Gwen, but I don't feel like going there right now.) Granted, it's the option I would take anyway, but think of the het fans! (I won't say think of the children because I likes my MPreg, so that's not an issue.)

7. Does anyone know when Season Four of "Ben 10" is supposed to hit DVD? I mean the exact date- I know it's August, but if I know when in August I can run out and buy it on my first available day off, just as I did with Season Three. Speaking of "Ben 10" on DVD, rumor has it that "Alien Force" will not be released in seasons, but in volumes. The first volume will have only five episodes, yet cost about the same as a season of the original series. So... basically, it's going to cost twice as much to acquire a season of "Alien Force" as it does the original. I thought they would release "Alien Force" on DVD and I was on the fence as to whether or not I would purchase it. This has me decided: no. I don't even really like "Alien Force" that much, I'm just happy that there's something more for "Ben 10". I'm not paying that much to own it.
